Purpose

If you are on this website, you are here for one of a few reasons, your supercharger’s bearings are about to go out, they have gone out, or you are just doing some research to prevent it from happening.  In 2005 and 2006 Scion launched the much awaited supercharged option for the tC.  It was a dealer installable option that will boost the cars horsepower to almost 200whp, which is a 65% increase over stock.  There are a few problems with it though, a poor installation, poor R&D, and a total lack of Toyotas willingness to help owners if their supercharger fails out of warranty.  A lot of the technicians at the dealerships do not have any idea on how to install these superchargers nor do they know how to torque the bolts properly to prevent failure.  If installed incorrectly the supercharger WILL fail 100% of the time.  If your supercharger fails and you are out of warranty Toyota will not sell you the parts to service it internally yourself.  This is where I come in.

Why do they fail?

Like I said previously a bad installation will cause failure, but also the bearings and seal inside the supercharger it’s self will fail.  The bearings were not made with a high enough tolerance to support spinning at such a high rpm with a huge shaft sticking off the end of them.   This shaft which is not balanced from the factory will cause the supercharger to build vibrations which will shake the bearings apart due to the play in them, eventually causing them to come apart.  The stock seal also is very prone to failure due to its material composition and construction.

Why use ceramic?

Ceramic bearings are made with cearmic balls instead of steel balls.  Doing this results in a decreased mass, less distortion of the ball under heat, and a much lower rate of friction do to perfect roundness.

What makes my bearings better?

1.       The bearings are ceramic and have much tighter tolerances than stock ones

2.       Each bearing is hand-made to ensure complete quality control

3.       Our seals are dual wall which have a much lower failure rate than the stock

4.       Our bearings are capable of spinning to over 100,000 rpm with no problems, stock is good to 65,000

5.       Our bearings will reliable hold more power and rpm’s than the supercharger would ever be able to generate

So what does this all mean and why do I care?

The improvements made with simply upgrading the bearings for reliability alone are astounding.  There has not been 1 failure reported yet due to faulty bearings or seals.  This means your supercharger will last longer, make more power, and be more reliable than when it was designed.  These bearings have been in my personal daily driver car for over 9 months and have not had a problem.  Order a set today and be safely on the way to making more power!
